Victory Gardens is a premier landscape design, installation, and maintenance company serving Savannah, GA and its neighboring islands. We operate a fleet of trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and small tools essential to our landscaping operations. We are seeking a Fleet Manager - Lead Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, organization, and efficiency of our vehicles, equipment, and shop spaces.

Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager - Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, organization, and repair of our fleet and equipment, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet & Equipment Maintenance (40%)
Develop and oversee a systematic maintenance schedule for all fleet vehicles (trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and small tools).
Perform and/or coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
Ensure all vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.
Manage repair records and track maintenance schedules using a fleet management system.
Conduct diagnostics and troubleshoot mechanical issues, utilizing the latest tools and technology.
Shop & Facility Organization (30%)
Maintain an orderly and efficient shop environment.
Oversee quarterly cleaning schedules for fleet vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
Implement systems for transparent organization of tools, equipment, and workspaces.
Manage bulk material storage areas, ensuring cleanliness and efficiency.
Team & Vendor Coordination (20%)
Work closely with installation and maintenance managers to align fleet needs with operational demands.
Supervise any mechanics, shop assistants, or external repair vendors.
Coordinate with outside service providers for specialized repairs beyond in-house capabilities.
Train crew members on proper equipment use and maintenance practices.
Waste & Environmental Management (10%)
Oversee the maintenance and organization of the compost pile, dumpsters, and waste management areas.
Ensure outdoor common areas and irrigation systems are properly maintained.
Qualifications & Skills:
3+ years of experience in fleet and equipment maintenance, with expertise in vehicle and small engine repair.
Strong mechanical knowledge, including engines, transmissions, brake systems, and hydraulics.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and maintain an organized shop environment.
Experience with fleet management software or willingness to learn.
Welding and fabrication knowledge is a plus.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally.
Work Schedule:
4 Day Work Week: Tuesday – Friday : 7:00 AM – 5 PM
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $20 - $25 per hour (based on experience)
